Introduction to Stereoscopic Visualisation and Display Technology
Products  Stereoscopic 3D  Guide

The fundamental idea behind stereoscopic (aka 3D or stereo) displays is to provide imagery with a realistic sense of depth by displaying different images to each of the user's eyes. This mimics the way in the real world our eyes see the world from two slightly different points of view. Many different ways have been developed to do this, the most widely known techniques being anaglyph (red/blue) and polarised system (as used in IMAX 3D).

Recent advances in LCD technology have allowed stereoscopic 3D to become much more widespread and now there is more choice than ever when deciding upon a stereoscopic display device. Inition have a broad and independent view of both currently available technology, and future developments, so are well placed to advise you on the best solution for your application.

The following guides are intended to give a brief overview of currently available technologies...

autostereoscopic displays

3D displays without the need for 3D glasses but for a single user at a time.
3D displays without the need for the 3D glasses
3D displays that work with LCD shutter glasses. Useful for data visualtions for small audiences
3D displays that work with low-cost polarising 3D glasses (either cardboard or plastic). Ideal for large audiences.
