There
comes a time when new technology and the public finally come face to
face. Saturday the 31st January 2004 was one of those times. For the
average person in Lithuania, 3D graphics had been around for sometime
but unfortunately very few had had the opportunity to witness it first
hand, that was all about to change for the lucky 5000 spectators of
the Radiocentras Music awards (Their equivalent of the MTV Music awards).
To
put this ceremony's importance in to context, this is the biggest music
awards show in the country with a TV audience of 750,000. With 10 exciting
acts competing for prestigious awards there is a never ending pursuit
to make each years show that much more exciting, more ground breaking
than the last. Thus we were approached with the view to use our iBox
to create reactive
3D
graphics for the big screen behind the acts during their performances.
For
this show we employed Anaglyph 3D, creating 10 exciting channels and
the combination of the iBox and 5000 pairs of glasses generated a new
Lithuanian record.
"
The largest 3D audience in the history of Lithuania"
After
3 hrs of entertainment, 3D glasses still in hand, the crowd departed
out into the freezing evening having been witness to fantastic performances
by their favourite artists and a 3D show that left them clapping and
cheering for more
For us, this experience was the first time iBox had been employed on
such a grand scale and helped cement the both reputation and diversity
of this little box of visual tricks.
